Car Rental Terms

Could someone explain the difference between the Super Collision Damage Waiver and the Collision Damage Waver? I'm drowning in car rental terms and prices!!

The regular CDW is the basic insurance for a car rental. It usually has a fairly high deductible, but a low price. Super CDW is extra coverage. It reduces or eliminates the deductible on the basic insurance, but it can add a significant cost to the rental. It does offer the most peace of mind, though, since your credit card won't have a hold on it for the cost of basic deductible, and if anything happens you know you are covered. You take either CDW or CDW AND Super CDW, not one or the other.

Thanks, Nancy. I guess I'm looking at Super CDW, however, I have noticed on-line that different companies want me to book before I can see the full details of the terms/rates. So far, Enterpise and Europcar seems to have the best rates.

Try the brokers, carjet.co.uk. I've had excellent success with them, and they're very clear as to what the CDW covers, what the "deductible" is, what Super CDW will cover, and how to cover for things like cfracked windshields, blown tires, etc.

We have a car reserved with Enterprise. The included CDW has a deductible of £600. The extra insurance would be £10/day (£50 for our 5 days), and the deductible would be £100. Also, we don't have to sign up for it until we get to the agency. It's a gamble, as insurance always is, but since this is our first time driving in England (Yorkshire), we'll probably get it.

I hope I've made the right decision! I've went with County Car with a quote I recv'd online at $253.00US dollars, with CDW included and taxes. The Super CDW is $14.00 a day extra. We have a 11 day rental out of our 14 day trip. 2 days in Dublin we won't use it..returning it to the airport late on our last day.
