Has anyone rented a car in Windsor and returned in another city?
There isn't any major car rental companies in Windsor. You will either have to rental on in Slough (4 miles from Windsor) or Heathrow (15 minute taxi ride from Windsor). Either one of these would be easy to get to from Windsor. Edit: @Nigel...you are so right regarding Avis....it's a newly opened office they are teamed up with Regus..I didn't realize that it opened. So Avis would be the only one in Windsor. .........This is what I found~.New Avis branches at Regus centres At Avis we are always looking at new ways to bring car hire closer to you, making it easier and more convenient, as a result we have opened new branches at Regus centres across the UK. ~~~~~~~~~~~~Thank you for letting me know. Checked...Enterprise, Hertz, National, Budget, Autoeurope...all in Slough~~~Almo in Reading So Enterprise is thereabouts in Slough.
I was surprised when we were told that there are no major car rental places in Windsor so I did 10 seconds or so of googling and came up with Avis Windsor at: Regus Victoria Street
Thames Court 1 Victoria Street Windsor SL4 1YB I didn't look any further but I would expect an Enterprise to be there or thereabouts. You're right that there is no Hertz. But for major, Avis floats my boat.
I was told (and really haven't researched much yet) that there were no car rentals in Windsor. We are leaving central London and going to Windsor (hopefully) for the Garter Ceremony in June. We will be renting a car for the rest of the trip and thought it would be easier to pick up one in Windsor rather than going to Heathrow and getting one there. I guess it depends on the price! Thank you.
windsor is actually a really small town on the river. was there for a couple of weeks didn't see a car rental agency, but i may have missed it. Sloguh is a much bigger and busier town to rent cars, and it's a very short bus ride from windsor. the bus line is on the main street between the train station + shopping mall and the castle. you may be able to find cheaper hotels in Slough as well, since Windsor's hotels are pretty expensive, unless you walk to Eaton across the river, there are a couple of cheaper places in really old buildings.
