Heading to Ireland in may. Taking train from Dublin to limerick. Need to get from limerick to Shannon to pick up a car, then heading to doolin. We are six adults traveling. Any advice on car rental companies, best way to get from train station in limerick to Shannon? It does not appear that the train goes into shannon, this is why we would arrive in limerick. Any car rental advice would be helpful. Thanks to all who respond.

Hi - Last year we rented from the Dan Dooley Company and were very satisfied. The good thing is that they tell you ALL the costs beforehand so no surprises at the rental desk. also, they have an American office so you can call and talk to someone about your rental. We usually rent from Autoeurope.com, a broker based in Maine. We booked with them for our May Ireland rental. Go to their website and fiddle with pick-up locations, auto types, etc. and you can get an exact cost for your rental, and check out car sizes. With six people you are going to need to travel really light. If you try to fit your entire group, and luggage, into many of the available rentals, you will be having "fun". You can call AE and ask for their help; they are wonderful to deal with. Be aware that you want to be fully insured. Many, if not all...(read contracts carefully!)rentals have a deductable that the rental agency will partialy cover if you pay a huge fee at the rental desk. (None? of them cover tires, wheels, and windshields). There are secondary insurance companies that DO cover everything, for very reasonable rates. In four trips, I have rented from Irish Car Rentals for three of them (the other was Dan Dooley, which I did not choose - it was part of a package). Irish Car Rentals also has a US number for questions and such. They have always had the best price when I was looking. Do make sure that you are getting a large enough vehicle for yourselves AND your luggage (or consider two vehicles). Are you trying to get to Shannon airport to rent, or Shannon town? I would guess that there are buses that travel between Limerick train station and Shannon airport. Check www.buseireann.ie for schedules. You might also look for a car rental office in Limerick to save yourselves the trip to Shannon.
