Hello- I am planning a trip to Ireland/Scotland in August, and I am having a very difficult time finding car rental places in Oban. My husband wants to go to the island of Islay for the distilleries, so we were going to fly into the Oban airport from Islay and then drive up the highlands for a few days. So, I assumed there would be car rental places at the Oban airport, but I am having no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there car rental places in Oban that I could rent one-way and drop off in Inverness? My second option would be to ride a bus to Fort William and rent a car there. Again, are there car rental places there that will rent one way to Inverness?

You'll probably have to go down to Glasgow to get a one-way. That's a couple hours of driving from Oban.

Wow, that's really an interesting flightIslay to Oban. I didn't even know that Oban had an airport. You might want to think about just flying into Glasgow and getting the car there. It think it might be easiest. It's not a bad drive from Glasgow Airport to Oban. I did find two car rental agencies in Fort William. But I bet you have to drop the car off back in Fort William. Whereas, if you get the car in Glasgow, you'll be able to drop it elsewhere.
