I'll be in IE in Aug and hope to rent a car in Cork. The last time I was there I rented from Dan Dooley. Are there rental discounts? Does anyone know about Great Island car rental?

What do you mean by rental discounts? I haven't heard of the other company you mentioned, but that doesn't mean they aren't reputable or good. I go with whoever gives me the best deal (3 out of 4 trips it's been Irish Car Rental). In August, peak time, you aren't likely to find good deals, but I would definitely get something reserved before you go.
