My sister got an incredible (much better than AutoEurope) rate for a week with an Irish company called Argus. I'm a little wary - has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with them? Would we be better off paying more and sticking with AutoEurope? Thanks
Collision damage waiver is the biggest auto insurance issue in Ireland. Make sure you're covered: Ireland and Italy are two countries where many credit cards don't cover you for CDW.
Thanks, Kent. The Argus rate does include CDW. I am trying to get some idea of whether or not they're a reputable company to rent from. I know that RS endorses AutoEurope - I'd like to save the money, but not if I end up getting screwed later by a disreputable company.
Shannon: That's good, but you want to determine what the CDW deductible is, the part you're responsible for. You don't need a zero deductible but you want to know what the deductible is and whether it's an amount you feel comfortable with. Often the "automatic" or "included" CDW is not 100% CDW coverage, is what I'm saying. And we've had more than a few stories, here, of travelers having to use their CDW in Ireland: left hubcaps and left rear scrapes are the favorite places for close encounters with walls and buildings in Ireland.
I believe they are a broker like Auto Europe so your rental car will actually come from one of the major rental agency's. They have been in business for almost 50 years if that is any help. Never rented through them.
