Hi,
Will be in Ireland 2 weeks in September and plan to get the optional CDW car insurance. However, at one of the car rental agencies (Argus) they listed a different option.
They offer (in the rental price) Limited CDW coverage. If I have coverage in the amount of $400 and the repairs cost $1,000 I only have to pay the $400.
Then they offer Insurance Excess Product for approx $8 per day - with this I pay for no repair costs.
Anyone heard of this "Insurance Excess" ?
Is it the same as complete CDW waiver?
Thanks
Sounds the same to me as "Super" CDW insurance. Maybe they are just calling it by another name. I would definitely suggest it if it means no deductible, though.
Thanks for the info on CDW insurance and insurance in general.
Can anyone recommend a car hire company that they used in Ireland that has no hidden fees? I've read that some of them quote a price which includes all the fees and CDW insurance.
Anyone had a good experience with car rental in Ireland?
Thanks so much.
Hi Dale
If you are worried about the excess then try www.insurance4carhire.com we sell policies that cover the excess up to £2000 in any one incident. If you are coming to Europe we have a policy that will cover you for £49. It will also cover any damage to windows, tyres, roof and undercarriage of the car. All policies are underwritten by AIG, one of the worlds largest insurance companies. Our policy will allow you to hire a car and take their standard insurance and you will be covered for any excess payable on CDW and Theft portions of the rental.
Let me know if you have any questions
Dan
I used novacarhire.com (broker) for my 2 week rental last Sept. It was about $100 less than Europcar and I ended up getting the car through Europcar anyways. I used that $100 savings and put it towards the Super CDW for piece of mind.
I have used Irish Car Rental (www.eirecar.com) several times. They have had the best rates when I have traveled the last two times.
