Hi, I've gotten so many good ideas from this forum - helping us plan our trip. Now I'm trying to find a car rental establishment in Bath. We intend to arrive in Bath for a couple of days and then rent a car for our stay in Stow-on-the-Wold and return the car to Bath a couple of days later and then catch a train to London. I couldn't find a Hertz there so I was looking at Enterprise. But there are some not-so-great reviews of this particular Enterprise franchise. Has anyone had experience renting a car in Bath for a similar excursion? Any recommendations on where to rent a car in Bath with the intention of returning it there? Thanks again!

Chris, we picked up a rental car at this Enterprise rental location in June 2012. We dropped off somewhere else, but we had no problems in our dealings with them, even though I forgot my passport at my hotel. If you are like me and have never driven in the UK, you'll appreciate that this location is not downtown but rather closer to some relatively quiet residential streets which allow a slower, less hectic introduction to driving there.

We picked up and returned at this Enterprise in Fall 2011. They sent a car for us and took us back to our flat which was nice since many streets in the center of Bath are one way and it can be a bit confusing to figure out how to get out of town. No problems whatsoever.

Chris, my wife and I rented a car from Hertz in Bath in May. It is not at the train station, but a short taxi ride away. They didn't blink an eye at waiving the insurance when I produced a letter from Visa, which will provide some cardholders with car rental coverage. The only sticking point was they did not hold an automatic transmission car that I had reserved. We had to drive the stick shift car we were given to Salisbury to get an automatic, a waste of a half day. We found that the on board gps was a great help. Hope this helps. Daniel L

Thanks everyone, Steve; I liked the location of Enterprise too. And, as Leslie noted, they will pick us up at our hotel. And thanks for the note about the GPS being useful, Daniel. I'm getting one too. So I'm leaning toward them. I'm just wondering how fast we can get to the train station to catch our London train from that location outside of the city area. I found the Hertz site so I'm going to look at that option too. Best,
