buying theatre tickets online for a london play

Has anyone purchased theatre tickets for a show in London from a web site called See? I went to www.theatremonkey.com and chose a play, then clicked to purchase tickets and ended up at this site. They don't offer me the option of picking up my tickets at the will call window. The web site only offers to mail me the tickets. My trip is 5 weeks away. Any suggestions?

Try www.playbill.com, there is a menu down the left hand side, look for "Listings/Tickets/London", it will show you what is playing and for some of them you can purchase tickets right there (it sends you to Ticketmaster/UK), and for others it may give you another web site to go to buy tickets. I have used this for tickets on Broadway many many times and never had a problem.

Good luck!

We always use Albemarle of London for our tickets. Very reliable!!!!! With 5 weeks until your trip, you have plenty of time for them to mail the tickets.

Thank you to all who shared their advice. After checking out all the web sites and seeing the surcharges for tickets (some as much as 25%) I went to www.londontheatre.co.uk and selected the info for seating plans and got the print out of the Palace theatre. Then I compared the info I got from www.theatremonkey.com (blogs from theatre attendees and the "expert" theatre monkey, very helpful) and just called the Palace boxoffice directly. I got the best seats in the house (according to theatre monkey) and saved a considerable amt. of money over going thru a ticket service. I also thought it prudent to buy the ticket insurance for about $3.00 per ticket in the event an illness or transportation breakdown prevents us from making the show, cheap insurance for almost $500 in tickets! I hope this will encourage someone else to try this on their own.
