Hi All, just a general question about tickets. We are travelling from Amsterdam to Paris early Sept. I have seen tickets from 20-90 Euro on various websites. Then Paris towards Italy. We are not sure of exact dates, maybe only a day or 2 ahead. How do we buy tickets over the net while in transit? Have a laptop but no printer. Can we just walk down to the station on the day we want to leave? I know that may cost more but is it a lot more ? thanks Steve
From Amsterdam to Paris, you need to take the high-speed Thalys train..reservations are required. You can wait until the last minute to purchase tickets, but you will be paying the highest fare. It's cheaper to purchase in advance at the www.thalys.com
The website will give you the option of picking up your tickets at the station. When it asks you where you live/where you are picking up your tickets say "Netherlands".
If you are on a budget, you can buy a ticket on Eurolines. I just checked and a one way ticket from Brussels to Paris is E12. You will arrive at Int. Bus station, Gallieni, which is on the outskirts of Paris. You can catch a bus or the Metro (line 3) from there into town. I cannot find Gallieni on the Paris bus map, but I remember buses there and that some went to the Louve.
Do not bring any weed with you. Our bus was stopped on the way and a drug dog went through it with a fine tipped nose.
What part of Italy? Look into Easyjet, Ryanair, etc. (skyscanner.com) for flights. They can be faster and cheaper than train. We took the bus from Paris to Milan. That is another story.
