Bus tipping

If I take the bus from Heathrow to Bath, what percentage do I tip? Or...do I tip at all? Has anyone taken the bus from Heathrow to Bath?

You don't tip the bus driver. Would you tip a pilot or a train engineer?

I see your point. Haven't been on a train since I was a child and I'm 54 now. The pilot is unavailable for remuneration. I never ride the bus out here. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you for all of the info. Never been to England and I wanted to be sure that a faux pas was not committed. :)

There is often a dish or bowl at the front of the bus where you can leave a few coins (say 50 pence or so) should you wish. This more likely where the driver handles or will help you with luggage ie much like a taxi driver.

Re my previous post. Just to make sure, I was talking about what we call coaches ie intercity. Not the local town/country bus service.

The only bus drivers I have ever seen tipped are on organized tours where you also tip the tour guide. Bud drivers on standard routes whther in town busses or long distance coaches are never tipped

I am going slightly off topic, but to follow up on what Frank II said, pilots do not need tips. When I visited the Boeing factory at Seattle years ago, the tour guide joked that the big bulge over the cockpit of a 747 is there so that the pilot can sit on his wallet.
