If you like 3 day eventing and the tour is in town its a no-brainer. We had a wonderful time the last time we were there, but William Fox-Pitt's fall really messed up Mary's run at the trout hatchery. Go, I say, go. Not an equestrian fan? Might be a bit out of the way by the way, Stamford is a really nice town. Peterborough's not far either.

Have been there and really enjoyed it...it's worth the trip. If you go in the spring there are fields of daffodils all around the estate. As mentioned, the city of Stamford is a very nice place to visit..... many of the scenes in "Middlemarch" were filmed there. Of course Cambridge is nearby and between Cambridge and Newmarket is another place worth visiting, Anglesey Abbey. And if you happen to be a horse lover, Newmarket is the horse capital of the world.

Really enjoyed Burghley House. In addition to the house, had the best stickey toffee pudding there!
