We have an extra 1/2 day to spend and are trying to decide whether to spend it in Bruge or the city of Luxembourg. In either place we would get off the train, store our bags, and wander around for 4 hours. Can anyone give us advice about which city we might enjoy the most given our time constraint and points of interest?
We walked around both cities for a day on an earlier trip.
On a secend trip, we went back to Bruges and spent three nights there. This is an easy choice.
This "To the North" forum doesn't cover Belgium or Luxemborg. You might get more replies from the Benelux forum (To the West).
Thanks Patrick and John,
That depends on where you are coming from since they aren't close to each other. Both cities are fantastic! I love them. If you are already in the north or west go to Brugges. It's one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and compact and very walkable. Also, the B&Bs there are very reasonably priced for some reason. And also they are central. Luxembourg is a bit harder to get to and the hotels are very pricey. Have you seen the movie, "In Brugges" yet? It's like a travelog of Brugges and a must see for anyone planning to go. Warning, it's violent.
