Britrail trains Manchester to London

Arriving in Manchester next Thurs (8/5/10) around 8 am. I'll take a late morning train to London (Watford Junction). My pass is a second class pass, so could someone tell me if there will be room for my duffel bag (22 x 11x12 inch - that does roll and stand on end)? Or will it be 'checked and placed elsewhere?' I think there will be a couple of stops with platform changes, so I'm concerned about my bag.

I took that same train twice. There were plenty of seats and room for luggage.

There is an area for luggage, but it will probably be empty enough to keep it near you.
