Leaving for Europe 6/29, to Great Britain (London-Heathrow) 7/12. Starting 7/15, we'll make several cross-country trips by rail, so Flexpass seems our best choice. I'm ready to buy, but my concern: with a week before leaving the States, how do I physically get our tickets? Can they be picked up, or must they be mailed to me? I've gotten conflicting advice...
I suggest you check with BritRail (www.britrail.com) to see if paying for Priority Shipping will get them to you before you leave for Europe. Good luck.
Call and see if they can be picked up after you arrive. Maybe delivered to the hotel where you spend the first night in the UK? Also, ordinary rail tickets booked in advance can be acquired at the station on the day of travel. At this point, I wouldn't trust airmail to get tickets to you. UPS/FedEx/DHL would, if you want to pay for it and if they'll agree to that.
I've found you've got to travel a lot to make rail passes cheaper than pre-bought tickets. With even a week still to go, price your planned trips individually versus a rail pass. You can get individual tickets at your first train station. You can get Rick's people to overnight your tickets if you buy from him. Nothing like planning ahead :)
