Does anyone know what exhibits are open late on Thursday nights at the British museum? We want to plan this for that day, but I have read that only some areas are open.

You are absolutely correct that the entire museum isn't open late. I think the Lewis Chess set was closed. IIRC - the Egyptian exhibits are open and I know that the famous Elgn Marbles are also open.
If you have your heart set on something, you might contact them to see if that area will be open.
If you have limited time at the museum, ask for the highlight tour. It has the most famous exhibits mapped out. Don't forget to see the Rosetta Stone as well!
If you are looking for something in particular and it isn't open, stop back in the museum during the regular hours - its free after all!
