Hi Travellers, I have heard that while you can carry an appropriate size piece of luggage and a habdbag or briefcase on a flight into London, when you fly out only 1 item is allowed? Has anyone else experienced this? I need to know for a meeting tonight! Thanks, Your travelling band teacher, Sara
I thought I read that somewhere at some point too (as I'm flying BA this summer) but just now looking on their website I can't find that info again. BA is notorious for being strict with their carry on allowances. I would plan for only one small bag to carry on and check the other and if their policy has changed, then it'll be a lucky surprise.
As the link shows and my experience confirms, flying with them twice so far this year and again in a weeks time, you are allowed two pieces of hand luggage. It may differ if one of your flights is a codeshare.
I recently flew BA (before the strikes and the volcano, thank goodness) and I took two pieces of hand luggage, no problem. One was a duffel that fit in the overhead and another was my Jansport backpack...that was chock full, but fit under the seat. No one questioned either. I don't think you should have any issues, especially if you can point out their official policy.
Check their website. It depends to where you are flying. I just flew LHR to BCN and it was 1 personal item plus one carry on. I believe you might be limited to one now flying back to States due to extra security checks because of underpants bomber, but their website should show.
