BRITAIN TELEPHONE HELP!

HOW DO I CALL BRITAIN FROM THE US WHEN THE NUMBER I HAVE BEEN GIVEN IS FOR CALLING WITHIN BRITAIN. PUTTING IN THE INTERNATIONAL CALLING CODE AND BRITAIN'S CODE DON'T WORK. WHAT'S THE SECRET?

One quick comment. The international dialing code to call out of the US is "011".

Hi Mary,
I just happened to be looking at this website when I read your post.

Go to www.timeanddate.com and go down to the box marked "Other Planning tools" and it has a tab called International dialing codes. It takes you to a page where you type in where you are calling from, where you are calling to and asks you to give the number you are trying to call. Then, it tells you what to dial.
I hope that it helps.

Hi Mary,
I expect the UK number you've been given starts with a 0; for example, the area code where I live is 01202 followed by my phone number.
To dial from the States, use the country code, which for the UK is 44 and then drop that first zero.
So to dial my number from the US you would use 01 44 1202 and the rest of the number.
Hope that helps!
