border abbeys

I am not finding exact locations of three of the main border abbeys, Jedburgh, Melrose and Dryburgh. Googling for websites only offers locations "near" the towns. Aside from Jedburgh Abbey, they are not shown on the Michelin spiral atlas. Are they well signed from the towns?

Thank you so much, Cynthia and Tex. Don't know why I didn't think to try google maps.

Melrose Abbey is right in the town of Melrose, about a block from the shopping area- you can't miss it! We had a very good meal at the Townhouse Hotel there in June, 2010, where we also did an overnight........Dryburgh is out in the country, about ten miles from Melrose. Dryburgh is very atmospheric, especially on an overcast day........Google Dryburgh Abbey Hotel-the abbey is right next to it. They are on a back road east of Melrose, near Scott's View. If you aren't having luck with google maps for the location, try theaa.com The same sort of distance mapping site, run by the British AA, like the American AAA....... We never stopped at Jedburgh, but I have a dim memory from a previous trip of driving right by it as we went through that town.

A useful website is Sacred Destinations. Heres the link for Scotland . Address, map, and GPS coordinates are given for the destinations, however Jedburgh is not listed for some reason.

I had no trouble finding them. I really liked Jedburgh. If you're exploring the Borders, think about visiting Hermitage Castle. It's very atmospheric! Also, there is a great book, Steel Bonnets Across the Border that tells the history of the Rievers and the border country. Traquair House is also worth a visit.
