Booking Eurostar

Someone in another thread mentioned buying Eurostar tickets via the UK website because the fares in pounds are cheaper than US dollars. I'm concerned that if I click UK as my country of residence, then pay with a credit card issued by a US bank and with a US billing address, something will go wonky, like they'll tell me it violates their rules of carriage, and I'll have to buy another ticket.

Has anyone actually done this from the US?

JJ - I have. All I have to do is show up at the Paris station with my passport and credit card I used to buy my ticket.

We bought our last year for May in March directly from Eurostar. I was going to book it online, but ended up calling instead b/c of mixing adult, youth & children in one reservation. The price was in pounds and I just paid with a CC and used that CC and my reservation number when I got to Pancreas print our tickets from a machine. It was a better price than we could get here in the US.

I did that exact thing last year (in October), and it worked out perfectly. the tickets were sent to my house in 3 days, and I saved $ by buying in pounds. Just use a credit card that won't charge a lot for the foreign transactions (still is worth using the UK site even if your card charges a foreign transaction fee of 3%).
