In March there was a thread about transportation questions, and when I asked about how our group might get from London to Southampton Bob from London was kind enough to tell us about Megatrain and said we might be able to get a ticket for about 5 pounds but that I might not be able to get my credit card to work on the site to make a reservation. Today was the first day my travel day was open for reservations. I made a reservation for four people on Megatrain for 4.5 pounds or $7.57 total and had absolutely no problem with payment. I am very pleased! THANKS, BOB! Otherwise I would not have known about this option and would have paid a lot more for our tickets.
Thanks for the posting about the Megatrain website. I also found a site called trainline which offered slightly cheaper tickets. We're going to Windsor Castle for the tour, and found non-stop service from Waterloo Station. No tickets are available from Paddington (3 websites gave me this information, which might be because we're not going until September).
That's possible if I understand you correctly. I figured out that tomorrow (Tuesday London time) was when tickets would be available for August 4, the day we needed to travel, so I checked this evening when I realized it was Tuesday there. That was only about six weeks in advance. I had checked trainline a few days ago for something I was researching but didn't find the price or schedule what I needed.
