We'd like to take a sightseeing boat from Westminster pier to Greenwich, stay there for a visit and then head back to London. It looks like there are commuter boats and just sightseeing ones. Any recommendations? And . . . is it necessary to buy tickets ahead of time or can you just show up? Thanks!
We took the commuter boat and it was a lovely boat ride. We sat on the top deck and really enjoyed viewing the city as we floated along.....
I agree that getting on a commuter boat makes much more sense. They are very frequent, cheaper and will take you right to the pier near the Cutty Sark. Just keep Rick Steves book close by to let you know what you are seeing.
We showed up at Westminster Pier on a Sunday morning in August and the line was quite long. If you can get tickets ahead of time, and I don't know if you can, I would highly recommend doing so. That was the longest line we waited in, but so worth it! Stop and have a pint at Trafalger Tavern in Greenwich.
Thanks! We'll be there the end of September, so maybe the line will be shorter.
