I am hoping to spend several weeks (possibly 5 or 6) in Ireland (mostly SW)- traveling by train/bus (long distances/bicycle (daily transportation). We really like to do self-catering and stay in a place for several days or up to a week. We've done this in France, Germany and Netherlands, but don't know how workable it is in Ireland. If we spend as much as a week in, say, Dingle Peninsula or Ring of Kerry area, is there enough to explore by bike for a week or will we run out of new places to see. We won't have a car - our bikes are our wheels, so daily distance is limited. Ireland is pricey (double per night what we paid at B&Bs in Germany last June), so while we want to see and experience Ireland, I don't know if I can really pull off 6 weeks. I'm not asking for specifics, just general impressions of the workability of this plan.
Hi Karen,
You should check out Iron Donkey. They have self guided tours at pretty reasonable rates.
