Does anyone have any suggestions for bike routes in Scotland? I will be biking for around 10 days with my teenage daughter. We are both quite fit and prepared for the hills! Perhaps around 120kms a day... most important part would be seeing nice scenery, castles, moors etc.
Thanks!
Try OpenCycleMap. The routes in red are signed long-distance trails. Some on-road, some off-road. http://www.opencyclemap.org/?zoom=7&lat=56.9666&lon=-4.57755&layers=B0
You might want to look at this site as well. http://www.cycle-route.com/routes/Scotland-Cycle-Routes-1.html I saw a wonderful bicycle race that went to Applecross. It was amazing road. There are some wonderful roads in Scotland. A lot of the wee roads are single track roads so while there may not be a lot of traffic it's a tight fit. My experience has been that the A roads have a lot of traffic. Also there is a forum on this link that you might want to post some questions on. That way you'll get bikers answering your questions. Post back and let us know about your trip! Pam
I recommend checking "The North Sea Cycling Route. It travels a circular through Scotland, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sewden, Norway. It is broken down on their website to the specific countries. http://www.northsea-cycle.com/
