Bike ride in Dingle

Hi everyone, My husband and I will be in Ireland in a few months (wow...so excited to be able to say that!) We are planning on spending a few days on Dingle Peninsula, and I know that Rick Steves offers a mile-by-mile bike journey. While we both enjoy biking, I think Rick's adventure is more than we want to do for a day on a bike. What we would really enjoy would be to rent bikes for an afternoon, take it to a destination, have a picnic, cruise some scenic highway for several miles, and return them the same day. Any tips on the best stretch of Dingle to do this? Also, are there other locations that are ideal for an afternoon bike ride? We're also going to be in Kinsale, and then up in the north along the Antrim Coast. (We'll be at the Cliffs of Mohrer, as well as Dublin and Belfast, but I don't think we'll be biking in those locations unless someone here knows of a great bike tour.) Thanks!
Tara

Hi Tara, I haven't rented bikes in Dingle but anywhere on the peninsula would be beautiful. We've been on a couple of minivan tours that were great. Be advised though that Ireland, especially the western part, is hilly. If you're young and in shape, it would be a lot of fun although the narrow roads make bike riding a little scary. Have a great trip.

Hi Tara - well you certainly have the right name so you'll fit right in! ;) There are a couple of places in Dingle where you can rent bikes - Foxy John's is one - combination hardware/bike rental and pub! (only in Ireland!) People are super friendly - just ask about different hiking and biking trips and they will definitely get you going. If staying in Dingle, I've stayed at the Dingle Hotel a couple of times and like it very much. Excellent location and great restaurant and pub downstairs. Have a wonderful time. Don't miss An Droichead Beag (The Small Bridge) in Dingle town! Antrim coast will steal your heart!

You mean a motorcycle or regular bike? I was recently looking for a tip on crusing europe on a bike (haven't done it yet, and I was looking for an advice on a bike, decided on Yamaha Virago which you can see here). But I haven't bought it yet, still looking for a good opportunity. So if you're looking for a motorbike cruise and you find something interesting let me know ;)
