No, you're not going deaf. The hourly chimes of Big Ben are to fall silent until September while maintenance work is carried out on one of London's most famous landmarks. The giant clock in the Parliament buildings will keep telling the time, with a few interruptions, but the chimes will stop Saturday. Officials say the maintenance, done every five years, will take between four and six weeks.
