In a previous post I asked about travel in Wales, saying I planned to make my base in Betws-y-coed. Replies indicated that this might not be a good choice because the winding, mountainous roads would make for long driving. I'd like more clarification from anyone who has been in Betws-y-coed. To illustrate my needs I'll say that I've done research with Google Maps which show the following destinations and mileage using Betws-y-coed as a base:
Conwy: 15 miles 1/2 hour (Conwy Castle)
Llanberis: 16 miles 30 min (Dolbadarn Castle)
Llangollen: 32 miles 45 min (Dinas Bran Castle)
Dolwyddelan: 6 miles 10 min (Dolwyddelan Castle)
Bettelgert: 17 miles 25 min
Beaumaris: 27 miles 40 min (Beaumaris Castle
This list of destinations has been whittled down from a much longer list and I'm hoping someone will confirm that my travel plans are doable. Thanks for the insight. - Diane
the A5 is a decent enough road ,I see no problem with your choice. Taking a little time driving though the hills is surely a pleasure anyhow, its not like UK distances are huge. Can I add Sychnant Pass and Aber fals to your list
