Best Way to Get to Skansen from Stockholm Central Station

I have a question on this. On Friday, October 7th, we are planning to come in to Stockholm Central Station and then head over to Skansen (the open-air folk museum). According to Rick's guidebook, you can "Take bus #47 from the train station" directly to Skansen. However, when I checked Skansen's website, no mention of this bus # was given only bus #44, and when checking the local mass transit trip planner (@ sl.se) no such #47 bus route comes up, and it appears that we would have to take 2 buses (#69K, then #44) to Skansen. Am I missing something here? Or does the #47 bus route run only in summertime? Any advice from those familiar with Stockholm's public transit system who could tell me a direct way to get to Skansen (we'll also have the Stockholm Card with us) would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I can only answer part of your question....I was in Stockholm in January, and took only one bus from the central station to Skansen. I cannot remember the number...........but it ran in the wintertime. Try the TA forum for Stockholm?

There definitely used to be a #47 bus that went to Skansen, but I just looked on SL and I no longer see a #47 route listed on SL or on the bus route map, so perhaps this route no longer exists. I checked the routes on the current map and if I were doing this, I would probably take the subway (tunnelbana) to Karlaplan (red line in the direction of Ropsten) and at Karlaplan pick up the #44 bus to Skansen. The bus leaves from Karlaplan every 15 minutes ( schedule here - sl.se/ficktid/vinter/v44.pdf) Another option would be to walk from Stockholms Centralen to Sergels Torg and pick up the tram (Spårvägn - S7) to Skansen. There is an underground walkway/shopping mall coming out of T-centralen that leads up to this area. It is a walk of a couple of blocks.(http://sl.se/ficktid/vinter/v07.pdf) However, any route given to you on the sl.se planner would work. Buses are generally quite reliable.

As a follow-up, I did find a Swedish radio report online that indicated that bus route #47 no longer exists. It indicated that the route was to stop running (looks like it was last August) and the tram was the replacement.

We took a boat across from downtown, then back. As I recall there were at least a couple of companies that run small ferries around the harbor. The bus goes the long way around, but we came from downtown near where our ship docked. It might work differently from the train station. We were disappointed with Skansen, primarily because the workers didn't seem very well-versed on Swedish history. We enjoyed the Vasa museum most.

I suspect that Brad took the Djurgårds Ferry which runs from Slussen to Djurgården docking by the Grona Lund amusement park. It is a short walk to Skansen from there. The timetables are on this page. http://www.waxholmsbolaget.se/tidtabeller/vara-tidtabeller/djurgardstrafik/ For this, you would want to take the subway to the Slussen stop. However, according to the fare page of the website the Stockholm Card is not valid on the ferry. The fare is 40 SEK.
