Best way to get from Heathrow to hotel

My husband and I will be traveling to London on Thursday. We are flying into Heathrow. Our hotel is right on the river, on the Albert Embankment. Just south of the Lambeth bridge. What are recommendations for getting to our hotel without having to take an expensive taxi? How much trouble is the tube with a couple pieces of luggage? Thanks.

Ashley - Provided you are not carrying 2 or 3 bags of luggage each the tube should be suitable for your needs. The Picadilly line will take you into central london.

The trains are a bit crowded at first because most everyone has luggage, hence filling up the trains. This of course makes it difficult to manage multiple bags.

Without knowing exactly where your hotel is I don't know the best final stop. I would guess that you would want to transfer at Green Park and either head out on the Victoria or Jubilee Lines.

The transfer at Green Park should not be a hassle if your not dragging multiple bags around.

Have fun

The Tube is no problem with just a couple pieces of luggage. For exact directions to your hotel you can enter the address into the London Transport website and it will tell you which lines to take and walking directions(select "address" on the pull down box):

Take the Heathrow Express from your terminal. At Paddington Station (end of the line) take a taxi to your hotel.

If you decide to take the train to Paddington maybe take the "Heathrow Connect" service which costs £6.90 pp as against £16.50 pp for the "Heathrow Express" service. The journey time will be up to 10 minutes longer.

Alternatively you could take the National Express coach (bus) service (£4 pp) from Heathrow to Victoria Coach Station and a taxi to your hotel.
