Best way to get back to London from North Wales?

What's the best way to get back to London from North Wales? Train? Air?

Our family will be staying in London for four nights, then probably taking the Virgin train to Llandudno Junction. We'll rent a car and drive around the North shore and possibly the Northwest coast area...going no further south than Barmouth and/or Lake Vyrnwy area. Since we'll be flying home to the U.S. out of Heathrow, we'll need to get back to London. The train from London to Llandudno is supposed to take about four hours. What are some suggestions i.e. train or plane to get from the North/Midlands area back to London.???

All suggestions welcome!

Thank you!

Why not drive back to Heathrow and turn your car in there? If driving in London worries you, then drive to a town close to London and turn in your car and train/bus the rest of the way. Taking the train/bus back sounds like a lot of unloading and reloading of luggage to me. I would drive to Heathrow. What time does your flight leave? When I drove there, we got to Heathrow at 4:30 AM and there was almost no traffic anywhere. Our flight left at 7:30AM.

That seems like way too long and too far a drive for me, especially on day-of-flight. Good suggestion, though.

Train. There's no air service in the area. The three closest airports--Liverpool, Birmingham and Cardiff do not offer flights into any London airport.

You could fly from Manchester, but by the time you'd got to and from the airport and cleared security the train would be just as quick and more pleasant.
