Best way into Dublin from Airport?

Welcome thoughts on most expedient way into downtown Dublin form the airport. Taxi affordable? Thanks Bob

I would recommend the bus into downtown Dublin. A taxi (from memory) is about 40 euros and the bus is about 10. For early flights out of Dublin, the buses may not be running early enough for a safe arrival time at the airport. Then you may want the taxi instead of the bus.

The city bus is cheap and goes right into central Dublin. Very easy.

Robert, I used a Taxi, but would have to check my notes to find the cost. The driver provided an interesting narration of Irish history and current events, so it was an interesting ride (and worth the cost, IMHO). You can check THIS website for the Bus and Coach connections. I don't believe there's any rail access. Happy travels!

We did the bus into town and you get an extra day to ride the tour bus that goes around Dublin. We took a taxi back and it was 25Euro from downtown.

We were stuck in Dublin 3 extra days, Nov 1-3 due to hurrican Sandy. We were told by the desk staff at the Premier and Carlton hotels that it would be about 25 Euro for a taxi downtown. The Dublin city bus No 41 and 41C were the ones we used stopping nearby these 2 hotels for 1.65 Euro/person/one way...need exact change or you will get a reciept for change that can be cashed in at the main office. For this same bus service as well as the hop-on-hop-off tour bus that stops at 24 tourists locations downtown, you can buy a 1 day pass or a 3 day freedom pass for 28 Euros. The freedom pass was great, just slide it over the scanner when you board...no messing around with change. It was 3 Euros less to buy the 3 day pass, than to buy 2 one day passes, so that would make the one day pass about 15.50/day... probably only worth it if you intend to use the HOHO bus. Dan

We just came back from Dublin last week. Take a taxi - we took one from the airport to the far end of the city (business district - near the stadium, where our hotel was located) and it cost us about 25 Euros. We did the same on our return to the airport. Both drivers were exceptionally friendly and showed us points of interest throughout the city. We thought that we would be taking the bus everywhere but ended up using taxis a lot of the time - they were not that expensive. If you are staying a while I'd suggest a day trip to Howth and a visit to the Gravediggers Pub. Also, the Irish Music pub crawl was great!
