Best transport from Heathrow

Could someone recommend the best way to get to the City of London...specifically Fleet Street.....from London Heathrow Airport?
Thanks in advance!

Rebecca, there is no Underground station on Fleet Street itself, so I suggest using Chancery Lane, which is half a mile to the north, maybe a 10 minute walk. Heathrow - Underground (Piccadilly Line) to Holborn Holborn - Underground (Central Line going east) to Chancery Lane Holborn station is only an extra quarter of a mile from Fleet Street, so rather than switching to the Central Line you might get out there. As you will have luggage, just hail a black cab on High Holborn (the name of the street that Holborn station is on). If you want to get to central London faster and don't mind the additional cost, then you will need the Heathrow Express to Paddington station, then the Underground (Bakerloo Line going south) to Oxford Circus, then the Central Line going east to Chancery Lane (or just get a cab from Oxford Circus). Alternatively, a cab from Paddington to Fleet Street, about 4 miles, maybe 20 minutes if it isn't rush hour, I'd guess at a fare of £15 (but I don't use London cabs so someone else may have a better estimate). The Transport for London Website has a good journey planner - http://www.tfl.gov.uk

Walking from Blackfriars is another alternative - also around ten minutes and an easier route (change to the District on the level at Hammersmith). Might depend whereabouts on Fleet Street the destination is.

Ah, I didn't realise that Blackfriars had re-opened after the rebuilding work. So, if your destination is at the eastern end of Fleet Street, then Blackfriars is definitely more convenient. This thread is starting to sound like a game of Mornington Crescent... :-)
