Best time to visit??

My preference is April-May. It's too early for the summer crowds, but attractions and historic sites that close over the winter are open. The weather is good (usually), and the fields are full of lambs.

Anytime between May and October... :)

I was there in October and the weather was quite pleasant for the most part. There were a few gray and "drizzly" days, but not really any rain. My preference would be May-June or September-October.

I have visited in November, and found the weather cool but pleasant. There were also few-to-no foreign tourists at this time of year.

The rule of thumb: Before May 15 and after September 15
