My husband and I are visiting Scotland at the end of May/early June. We are flying into Edinburgh and renting a car and are immediately heading out of Edinburghwe were there in the winter and want to experience more of Scotland. We have six nights before we need to back in Edinburgh to fly to Dublin. My question iswhat are your favorite places to visit in Scotland? Any inns or bed and breakfasts that you recommend? Sights that we shouldn't miss? We stayed at the Gordon Arms Hotel in the Borders in January and it was fabulous! Thank you!

Our all time favorite place in Scotland is Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay. Eight distilleries and a microbrewery. The Port Charoltte Hotel. The village of Bowmore also has some interesting places to eat.
Inverness and Aviemore are my 2 favorite places in Scotland. Both make great bases to explore the areas around them. If you are 'into' Scotch whisky, then stay in Aviemore. You can reach several excellent distilleries easily from there. Lots of things to see and do- hiking and horseback riding an canoeing on the Rothmurchie estate, go up Mt. Caringorm on the funicular (and either ride back down, or hike down), ride the restored steam train roundtrip along the Spey river, tour the local Microwbrewery (The Caringorm Brewery)- they give samples, too, see the reindeer preserve, toru the heather center...... We like to stay at the Caringorm Hotel- it looks like a miniture castle outside and a hunting lodge inside. And their restaurant has THE BEST FOOD.
Thank you!
I have so many favorite places. First, I love the Orkney. Orkney of course, take some planning, but I love the history, I love the difference in the geography. I love the north as do most people. Most recently, I've stayed in Fortrose on the Black Isle at the Anderson. There's a bit of the faulty towers to the Anderson, but the food is good, the room is nice and the whisky is wonderful. The West is really beautiful. I love Toridon, and Ullapool is great little town. I get all my sweaters there and the walks above the town are great with wonderful views. I visited Mull and enjoyed this island a lot. I liked Tobermorey and I liked traveling to Staffa and Iona. There is wonderful wildlife on this island. The Outer Hebrides are just spectacular. The beaches, the walks, the history are all great. I love Perthshire. It's close to Edinburgh and has wonderful scenery. Check out Dunkeld, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and explore. Pam
We have visited Scotland four times and can't wait to return. So far, our favourite places: Urquhart Castle, Orkneys, Loch Torridon and Glen Torridon, Skye, Lewis, Glencoe, Edinburgh, and Dryburgh Abbey........We were very happy with two lovely B and B's: Tigh na Bruach near Urquhart Castle and Huntingtower Lodge, just west of Fort William.
My favorite place in Scotland is the Isle of Skye. We've been there twice and stayed in Portree both times. Skye is spectacularly beautiful and there are lots of places to take long walks and hikes.
