I am looking for an affordable, safe, place to stay in London next Fall with my son and husband. My son is interested in the British Museum and London Tower, etc.. What area or accommodations would be good for a family
Mimi, more information would be helpful. How much is too much for a hotel? Do you want AC, room service, elevators, etc.?
Scan several pages of thread in this forum, and you will be sure to see a number of London hotel discussions.
Any hotel within the West End or, broadly speaking, within the confines of the Tube's Circle Line, will be more or less in a convenient location. No matter where you stay, you will spend on the Tube and/or buses to get around town.
London hotel rooms are rather small compared to the typical American room. Schedule something to do after dinner so the three of you don't quietly succumb to cabin fever back at the hotel.
A wonderful and inexpensive(for London) hotel is the Luna-Simone on Belgrave Road in Pimlico. It is close to Pimlico and Victoria Station. Costs about $130-$140 a night. Very very clean. Great water pressure in the showers. Large breakfast served in the morning. Run by two twin brothers. Very popular hotel. Look them up on TripAdvisor and look at the reviews. Best bargain in London.
Our family were regulars at this hotel between 2002 and 2009. Mrs. Patel is charming, the hotel is safe, small and clean. Small bathrooms and rooms, but very affordable as well. A great location near Victoria train and bus stations. The Cherry Court Hotel: www.cherrycourthotel.co.uk
The Blades Hotel....http://www.blades-hotel.co.uk/...is a nice hotel to stay at. Also, The London Elizabeth Hotel is great. We enjoyed our stays at both of these.
