After a month's stay, I will be returning to the US from England in mid Oct. I would like to stay in a hotel close to Heathrow's International Terminal the night before leaving England. Can anyone recommend a good not-too-expensive hotel close by. Thanks!
Hi Marilyn, This is a site I used when searching for a hotel near Heathrow .. http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_hotels.htm I stayed at the Holiday Inn Ariel, http://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/london/lonht/hoteldetail The odd shape was interesting. I had a nice single room on the inner ring. Breakfast was fine. It was almost next door to a bowling alley. A McDonalds was inside when I visited in '09. It's a different fast food option now, http://airport-bowl.com/ I used the Hoppa bus, which can take a while to get you to the airport (you need to allow for time for the bus to start/stop picking up passengers at various hotels). The London Toolkit describes how to use the free local buses if you are traveling light. Cheers.
The Premier Inn near LHR is 55 pounds a night and gets good review. M
I stayed at Ibis Heathrow a few months ago for a modest number of ££. Restaurant on premises but no free breakfast. I took the Hoppa bus to the terminal from the hotel.
We always stay near Heathrow either the first night upon arrival or the night before departure. Use Travelocity or similar for a hotel near the airport. Usually end up at the Holiday Inn or Sheraton for a good price. You do have to use the Hoppa bus and there are I believe 5 Holiday Inns so make sure you specify the right one (guess who made that boo boo!). I grab something from Marks and Spencers at airport for breakfast before heading to the hotel. Breakfast at the Sheraton is a huge ripoff. I mean, it's good but I want the wait staff to spoon feed me for that price (lol).
I don't know why anyone would pay 4.50 GBP to take the Hoppa Bus when you can take a public bus for free to any hotel on Bath Rd (see the section on London Toolkit that explains the options). They even run more often than the Hoppa! And there are actually TWO Premier Inns on Bath Rd, the regular one, and the Premier Inn Terminal 5, at the opposite end of the street. I am staying at the Premier Inn T5.
What Nancy said... Why spend ££ on the Hoppa bus when the free public bus stops at or very near all the Bath Road hotels?
We stayed at the Sheraton Heathrow last Spring. It's a nice hotel with a good restaurant. The rooms don't have wifi but the lobby and restaurant do (free).
What are the best hotels for someone leaving from Heathrow Terminal 1. Thanks!
We stayed at the Yotel. It's actually located IN the airport making it very convenient. Prices are reasonable based on the number of hours you are staying. http://www.yotel.com/hotels/london-heathrow
Thanks April, how convenient would that be for a departure from Terminal 1? I'm thinking that Heathrow Ibis would work ok for me.
