Best Choice for Hotel Location in London?

Hi, I'm looking for budget hotels for an upcoming trip to London (2 people) in September. I'm interested in the Tune Hotel chain, but I'm not sure about the locations. I'm basically looking for a clean place to crash at night. We'll be coming in late from Heathrow and leaving after five night to take the train to Paris. Just based on location which of these three would you pick? Tune Hotel King's Cross 324 Gray's Inn Road London WC1X 8BU Tune Westminster 118-120 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7RW Tune Paddington 37-55 Praed Street,
London W2 1NR

I'm a big fan of the Paddington area, but I'm sure others will have their own opinions. Easy access from LHR, lots of eating options at all price ranges, lots of access to buses and tube stations and Internet cafes in the area. also, nice Marks & Spencers in Paddington station for food.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I'd spend one night at one of those let alone 5, I'm not one to pay extra for towels and having the trash collected and TV and a window, and living out of a shoe closet; but that's not your question. If you were just one night and leaving early for Paris, purely based on location I might say Kings Cross area. If you're there for the week I'd agree in general with Praed Street. I guess an advantage of no window is there will be less train and truck noise.

its my first time staying at the tune. im staying at the westmister location. when i was booking my room i only had two locations to chose from, the other was liverpool or liver(something) its in london. lol sorry im still getting familiar with london. i a newbee. anywhoo, when i was booking i notice that they gave the option to choose a room without a window. i didnt pick that option, so i do believe my room does come with a window. they showed me a pic of my room before i booked it. the only thing i can complain about is that i just found out my cellphone provider told me my phone will be dead in europe because only smart phones work out there, so idk what im going to do because THERE IS NO PHONE IN MY ROOM!!! lol and i doubt a calling card is going to work for me because where am i going to find a phone to use it? doubt london still have pay phones. nyc doesnt have payphones, and ur lucky to find 1. lol. happy hotel hunting! :) lol

Of those three, I'd choose the one on Gray's Inn Road. This would be a straight shot by tube (Piccadilly Line) from Heathrow and close to your Eurostar departure.

In response to Mel, there are lots of red phone booths around London and you can buy phone cards in many places. I did this on my 2007 trip and there were 2 red phone booths across from my hotel on Belgrave Road.

mel I've been thinking about your telephone issues. I've tried to telephone the Tune "hotel" but they don't have a British number, only an email address. You don't really have an option to cancel because they don't do refunds and cancellations are only given 6 month personal credit for use at a Tune location in the UK. So I've tried to find you a phone. I've used Streetview after a while I found a phone booth . There appears to be one at 6 Hercules Street around the "Y" junction. I did look at the Lambeth North Underground station information on TfL. The station information shows that they DO have payphones. While I haven't checked them, the pub at the end of the road may have a phone, I'd be surprised if they haven't. I wouldn't expect the Chicken place to have one but Italian Cotto might. Good luck, I hope this doesn't wreck the holiday.

@ Nigel. I emailed the hotel. they said i can use their phone to make a quick local call. i do have a number to the hotel. its on my invoice. They told me there are payphones but i think the ones they told me are at the water loo station and some other station. i forget. but it sounds like the pay phones are mostly in the tube. i read somewhere that there are two different types of phones. one for coins only and the other for cards like calling cards and credit cards. if this is true then i hope its a card phone at those locations by my hotel
