My husband and I are looking for options to travel from Bath to Stratford-Upon-Avon in mid-May. We'd rather not rent a car unless we have to. Thanks!

If you pick the right departure time (08:43) and the right route (Bath Spa - Didcot Parkway - Oxford - Banbury - Stratford-upon-Avon), the trip can take as little as 2hr33min by train.

I took a similar trip by train to nearby Warwick from Bath several years ago. If you are comfortable hopping off and onto trains 3-4 times in a couple of hours, the train will work. This requires a detailed schedule and paying close attention to time and stations. The bus (coach) might be easier, especially if you have much luggage. The train station in Stratford is away from the center of town; this could be another consideration. Coaches stop more central to the main part of town.
