Will it be possible to take a day trip from Bath to Stratford-upon-Avon...it looks as if the train takes over 3 hrs...does that sound right. Thanks in advance. Betsy

You're right, it's over 3 hrs each way, and bus service is a little worse. If you'll be in London, then it's a good day trip from there.

Same as Tim. The fastest train takes 3.5 hours one way and many take 4.5 hours. That's only station to station time, add for time to get to station, wait for train, get from destination station to first sight, etc. Just the travel time would be 9 to 10 hours out of your day, when you add it all up. Not a good day trip from Bath. Better to get closer to Stratford, then do a day trip. Buses not any better. From London station to station time, one way, is 2hr15min to 2hr40min.

Have you thought about renting a car at the Bath train station from Thrifty (If I remember correctly) to drive around for the day then return your car back to Bath..Other car rentals our outside of town and you would have to find a way to get there. You would be able to see several other towns in the Cotswolds in one day...
