Later this year my husband and I are traveling to Ireland for two weeks. Besides Dublin, which other town would be a good base for 5 or 6 nights?

Following the hints of others - Ireland is very small a better plan might be a few days in one place and then a few more somewhere else. This kind of "multiple bases" is a good idea because bus and train service is less present in the hinterlands and being somewhere may be better than spending time traveling to a place and then back.
I personally think Dingle Peninsula is worth at least two days on it's own but it's not the same to day trip there - even twice. With some more detail people may be able to offer more advice - are you driving and what are your real areas of interest? =Tod
