Base2Stay Anyone?

Has anyone stayed at the Base2Stay? It has good reviews but my question is regarding a "Double/Twin" room. I tried sending them an email but got a response that states it has two twins or a king bed. Well, that is a big difference. As a couple we'd prefer not to have twin beds. I might have to give them a call or at least another email and try to get more information. If anyone has any firsthand info please let me know. Maybe there is a terminology issue. I know some Europe hotels combine two beds into one bed, although that seldom is king sized. Thanks

While I have not stayed at Base2Stay--it is on my list of places to try--hotelspeak goes as follows: A "double" is a larger bed meant for two people. (It's rare to find a King sized bed in Europe.) A "twin" is two single beds usually NOT pushed together.

I've stayed there, but afraid that I cannot help you on the bedding as my room was a single. A king bed is normally one bed in England, but it is a little smaller than an American king.
When you email, I would suggest that you indicate that you would prefer a king bed rather than a twin and ask if there is anyway that they could guarantee your bed preference if you book that type of room.

I have booked a room at Base2Stay for May I booked the double/twin and the following was in my confirmation E-Mail. A Double/twin Room-This room comprises of a King size bed, kitchenette (microwave, fridge, kettle) power shower rooms with complimentary Keiji aromatherapy toiletries, 20" LCD flat screen televisions with multi channels, 30 pay-per-view films, music, and free regular internet access, plus free Wi-Fi, 2mb internet connection, air conditioning, work station with ample power points, hair dryer and safe. The average size of the room is 203 sq ft I have looked through the photos on trip advisor and some of the photos show the double/twin rooms.

Double beds in the UK are often two twin bed latched together.

Thanks for all of the information. Actually prior to seeing the message posted here from the Base2stay employee I had sent a request to base2stay for a large bed rather than two and received confirmation on the request. I do think they should provide better information on their web page. I'm looking forward to the trip. Most things I've read about base2stay have been very positive. Thanks.
(I'll try to remember to post a report after the trip.)
