My son and I are planning to take the bus from Cork to Ballymakeera - the home of our ancestors. Does anyone know what is there? Are there any pubs, sites? Thanks!
Jim, All I know is that it's a Gaeltacht but you probably knew that already. Try to get to Cobh as well as there's a good chance its from there your ancestors left. I'm sure there's a pub. There's always a pub. Looking up ones ancestors is thirsty work.
Hi Laurel, I did not know is that it's a Gaeltacht, so that information was HUGE! Thanks so much!
I'm going to get to work on learning some key phrases.
There is a pub there, or at least was one a few years ago. The most important phrase to know in Ireland, at least in English, is, "A pint of Guinness please".
