We are doing the Nutshell from Oslo to Bergen but thought we'd enjoy another day to see more of the Sognefjord. So we are planning a one-day round trip on the Express boat from Bergen. We would like to visit both Balestrand and Vik without spending a night or two in the area, but it seems the boat schedules make this impossible, even though they are close together and the boat goes to both. Does anyone know how to make this work? An alternative trip that goes to Vik would include some out-of the way places (Vadheim, Lavik, Nordeide). Has anyone any experience with this trip? I was a little discouraged to hear that the Express boat has very small areas for being outside. I would hope that there is adequate space for those who prefer it.
