OK, I want to stay in Balestrand for three nights, arriving on the train from Oslo, if possible, but also want to go to Naeroyfjord and finally end up in Bergen.
I would like some suggestions how to do this.

We rented a car when we visited Norway for a week. We started in Bergen, drove to Voss, Flam, Vik (stave church), Balestrand, north to the Geiranger Fjord, then back to Bergen. Driving in Norway is VERY easy--the roads are excellent and usually tunnel through the mountains rather than going over the passes. Most of the highways cross the fjords by way of a ferry boat. I think it would be very difficult to see Norwegian scenery without a car---travelling by boat you only get to look up at the mountains instead of down at the fjords. Norma - Lot of different ways to accomplish this
One way might be:
- Take a train from Oslo to Bergen
- Take the express boat from Bergen To Balestrand which is about 3-4 hours through the Sognefjord
- Pick up the express boat to go from Balestrand towards Flam. I believe midway through you can transfer to the boat heading down the Naeroyfjord.
- You can bus from Gudvangen back to Flam.

I have read some indications off the Internet that we might be able to do this, however I haven't found anywhere in the ferry schedules that it is possible. And the schedules look like what is possible is day specific. We are going through on a Wednesday.
I would like to do the trip traveling from Oslo from Voss if I can, so we do not spend time and money back tracking. If I can book it ahead of time I can also get the lower fares.
Any help would be appreciated. There are four adults traveling together.
