I'm thinking of staying at the Bakers Hotel in London this December. The price looks on the cheap side, so not expecting the Ritz but not wanting a dumpy dive either. Not worried how small rooms are or stairs as I've traveled many times in Europe & quite used to the different standards.
I need to know from folks who stayed there 1.)were the rooms were clean/in decent repair 2.) what loudness level of street noise / noise from other guests 3.) what condition the shared bathrooms were in & 4.) what they serve for breakfast . Kindly advise.
We stayed there years ago and weren't very happy, but I do think we got what we paid for. . . one step above hostel. Our room was in the basement and was a triple for reference. The bed I slept in was not very firm which was a problem for me and I felt a great need to wear something on my feet in the shower (I know she cleaned once a day, but there were a lot of people in the basement there before me) Anyway, I survived, but I am positive my 65 year old mother will spring for the en-suite next time! I don't remember it being too noise on the outside, but doors closing was heard frequently. I don't remember breakfast. Good luck.
