I know this isn't exactly a travel question but my friend is letting us stay at her flat while traveling in England in a few weeks. As a gift I wanted to get her something for her first baby due in October (a girl). Her entire family lives in the united states so I wanted to get her something for a store in England. Anyone know of englands equivalent to baby r us or target? Thanks, Aubrey.
Mothercare is probably the most well-known baby chain store. You could see if there is one near her on their website: http://www.mothercare.com/b/49391031
I would think the chain type stores would have the same things we have here in the US. When I was in London a few years ago there was a wonderful little boutique type childrens store at Paddington Station. I bought some beautiful little white baby shoes with embroidery on them for my soon to be arriving grandaughter. They had wonderful things that were unique. Expensive, but worth it. I also found an adorable little pair of sheepskin slippers that looked like a lamb...complete with its own sheer giftbag. I found those at a giftshop in Wales, but I saw them a number of places. There are lots of little childrens shoppes that might have some interesting items.
We loved shopping at Laura Ashley for children's clothing. Not sure if they have baby items anymore.
