B & B on Isle of Skye

Does anyone have B&B's to recommend on the Isle of Skye?

Judy, We've stayed at the Rosedale Hotel in Portree twice. It's a little bigger than the B&Bs we normally stay in and a little more expensive, but we really liked it. It faces the water, and the views are incredible. I like staying in Portree because it offers a lot of choices for eating. It also has some nice pubs and shops and is fairly centrally located on the island. Breakfast is very good and the service is good too.

I stayed at the Skye Picture House a number of years ago in conjunction with a photo workshop. It was very nice and the hosts genial. It's not in a village, but is reasonably centrally located for going to the different corners of Skye. They did also serve dinner. There was a lovely room with a peat stove and a view of the water where we occasionally spotted otters swimming. Pam

We stayed at the Pink Guest House which down at the bottom of the hill on the water. It is seen in all of the pictures of Portree. It is owned and run by David who is from Florida. The rooms can be "cosy' but is clean and good location. David was very helpful. Every thing in Portree is close by. We happened to be there the night of the Skye Ball. Singing all night until 6 am when they sang God Save the Queen and finally went to there places. We did not sleep much that night but where else can you experience something like that. Portree made a good base to explore most of Isle of Skye which was wonderful.

We stayed at the Cliffe House located in Kyleakin this past September. It was a great place to base ourselves while we explored different parts of the island for a few days. It's right on the harbor and all rooms overlook the water. We plan to return again next year. I found the following websites helpful to find B & B accomodation as Trip Advisor's listings can be a bit limited for some areas: www.roomfinderscotland.co.uk and www.visitscotland.com
