Would Burford be out of the way for you? That's where we're staying when we visit Oxford and Blenheim Palace. I found the Cotland House B&B on TripAdvisor and thought it looked very nice.

Thank you every one. Here's the deal. We arrive at LHR at about 2:30pm and are picking up our car there. We like knowing where we will be staying the night & I thought Woodstock was a far enuf drive plus we could see Blenheim and Bladen the next day. Burford is good though and it's in the right direction since Gloucester is our next stop. I looked at smoothhound, always a good source for me, and the VIC.
