Hi. I'll be traveling to Edinburgh for a Fri-Sun in Oct. and am looking for a cheap but centrally located B&B or guesthouse to stay in. Any recommendations?
(also for what to see during my short time there?)
Thank-you!
We are staying a the Belford Guest House in mid-Sept., just google "Belford Guest House, edinburgh and it should come up. It was recommended in Rick Steve's guidebook.
We are staying at the AmarAgua Guest House for three nights in early October; it's in Rick's book. They have a great website with pictures of all the rooms. I think we chose this place for the Dalmation, but then I exchanged some very nice emails with the owner and knew we made the right choice.
If you were going to be there mid-week, I'd suggest the Travelodge which is in a great location and dirt cheap at mid-week.
thanks for the response folks.Quick time sensitive question...as of right now... AmarAgua has an availability but I see it's a bus ride from downtown. Do the buses run late in Edinburgh? Is it safe for a single gal to take them? Are they expensive? Thanks!!!
It looks like they do run pretty late. How late do you need? You have to check-in by 10:00 pm, but there's no curfew after that.
We haven't been to Edinburgh yet, but I have many friends who have. It sounds quite safe. There are a few neighborhoods that are a little rough, but they aren't close to where you will be. Here's the website for the bus company: http://www.lothianbuses.co.uk/
Thanks so much! I'm booked at the AA (also in October) and am looking forward to it!!!
