We are traveling from Derry to Westport and think staying in this part of Donegal might be worth breaking up the trip, rather than my current plan to do a loop in one day & return to Derry. Any thoughts on the best town and a good B&B?
Thanks

Glenties or other towns in the area would be ok too.
Can't help with the B&B but I like Ardara, actually any of them should be fine. Great part of Ireland, largely ignored by most Americans in their rush to see Dingle,Blarney and Aran Islands.
If you don't mind a wee bit of a side trip and some beautiful coastal scenery on the Atlantic Drive, Fisherman's Village Lodge in Downings, Co. Donegal has a great B&B. They also run a charter fishing boat. The Singing Pub is nearby and is very popular.
A stop at the Belleek China Factory has a great tour inside the factory where you see the step-by-step process and you can talk to the workers. Of course you also have the opportunity to spend a little money.
Co. Donegal is a little rugged and remote but well worth seeing and it's not as touristy.
